Our story started in 1988, making our prawn farms’ Australia’s oldest.
Crystal Bay Prawns are grown by Seafarm, a subsidiary of the Seafarms Group Ltd (ASX:SFG), an integrated farmed prawn producer. Seafarms acquired the Seafarm business in January 2014; the Seafarm story itself having started in 1988 at Cardwell, a picturesque town located adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
The region has breathtaking views of Hinchinbrook Island, the largest island on the Great Barrier Reef. The predictable temperatures, and pristine seawaters of the Hinchinbrook Channel made Cardwell the perfect location for establishing our prawn farms and the Crystal Bay Prawn brand.
Today, Seafarms is Australia’s largest producer of farmed prawns with 148 ponds covering 160 hectares, across three locations throughout North Queensland, and is proudly an Australian company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. Producing – high-quality, year-round reliable prawn volumes for both Australian customers and export markets.
