Cardwell, Home to Crystal Bay Prawns
|
Established in 1862, historic Cardwell sits half-way between Townsville and Cairns, blessed by its location, surrounded by magnificent rainforests and the Great Barrier Reef. The oldest settlement in North Queensland, Cardwell, was once an important gateway to the Australian interior.
Today, with a population of just 1600, Cardwell is known as the gateway to the World Heritage-listed Hinchinbrook Island, Australia's largest Island National Park. Uninhabited, except for eco-tourist lodges, Hinchinbrook offers the visitor spectacular waterfalls, rainforests, wilderness tracks, palm-fringed beaches, crystal clear seawater and mangrove waterways.
And located adjacent to these pristine waters is Seafarm, producers of world-renowned Crystal Bay Prawns. Seafarm’s operations take great care not to disturb the delicate balance of the surrounding ecosystem, a unique pristine environment, which enables Seafarm to offer customers a consistently superior, sweet tasting, fine textured prawn 52 weeks of the year: the Crystal Bay Prawn.
